Fun Fly 10/13/2023

 

On October 13th, 2023, we gathered for our first, and unfortunately last, Fun Fly event of the year. Safety rules were reviewed, and membership cards were delivered. And although wind speeds were low, it proved to be a great time to enjoy each other's company. What we lacked in gusty breezes, we more than made up for in fun and memorable moments together.

Mark your calendars for May 18th, 2024! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone then. Fingers crossed for no rain and lots of good wind!

Good News and Bad News

Welcome everyone! We have lots of news. 

Good News

• We should be able to fly again, but it will be on a monthly basis May-October.

• The exact schedule is TBD but we're trying for a mix of Saturdays and Sundays, avoiding the Whidbey Island Fun Fly dates.

Bad News

• For now we won't get to fly as often as we used to.

• Insurance is important to the Port of Everett and it will require everyone to have an American Kite Association (AKA) membership. Cost information is below.

• Insurance through the AKA has a $200/year premium.

• The Port of Everett will not be issuing a blanket permit to the club, so we can't fly whenever we want.

• The Port of Everett charges $25 to reserve the park for our Fun Flies.

More Good News

• Rob and I are covering the $200 insurance premium for you through October 31, 2024.

• I will cover the $25 reservation fee.

1.    Club Insurance  (current - October 31, 2024)                                                                                     
         Rob Villahermosa and I are splitting the $200 cost of insurance for this year only.
         In October 2024 there will be club dues to cover this. 
         The amount will be based on the number of members we have at the time.

2.    AKA Membership                                                                                                                          

        Your cost $48/yr, additional family members are $8/yr

3.    Park Reservation Fee                                                                                                                         
         $25/season

        Your cost $0
