Fun Fly - Oct 12

This year has been a lot of fun at Boxcar Park as we've enjoyed both kite flying and the chance to reconnect with one another. While we encontered some light winds during the last few fun flies, the group's spirit and enthusiasm remained high, and we've truely enjoyed the time together. 

Looking ahead to next year, we're excited to expand our gatherings to two days a month, giving us even more opportunities to see each other and increase our chances for better wind. We look forward to what's to come!

Fun Fly - Sept 21 and 22

Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd were to be our make up days for when we had no wind at our annual potluck. Unfortunately we didn't have much wind on the 21st and there was absolutely nothing on the 22nd. 

I'm happy to say that Larry was able to fly his dual line kite for a little while. Also, Dirk and I managed to briefly get a couple of quads in the air. Thank you Larry for the pictures!

We have one more fun fly this year on Saturday, October 12th. Watch this space for our 2025 dates!

 

Annual Potluck Fun Fly - Sept 7th

Last Saturday, we held our annual pot luck and enjoyed a wonderful time socializing and shareing great food. Unfortunately, the wind didn't cooperate, so most of our kites stayed grounded. While Rick managed to fly several light-wind kites, the rest of us focused on the delicious food and delightful company.

We could not asked for better weather! The wind was great and we were flying full vents! I was so busy flying that this is the only picture I got all day. 

Attending club members include Jill, Peggy, Larry, Rick, Dirk, Ann, Joanne, Octopus Dave, and Dale. Also please welcome our new member, Brett Grant!

Fun Fly - June 22nd

We had a fantastic time at the June fun fly! The quad fliers were mostly using mid-vents, and we had several large single line kites up. Countless observers stopped to tell us how much they enjoyed seeing kites at Boxcar Park again and wanted to know when we will be back.

Although serveral of us already knew Ann Ottini, now we can formally welcome her to the club. Saturday she was flying her stunning orange and yellow octopus and her adorable Pooh Bear kite. Welcome Ann!

We also lucky to see a special friend, Martha, which most of you would know as "Tall David's" wife Martha. I'm very sad to say that David passed away after last season. We will miss him and his beautiful Prism kites!

Rescheduling

Due to weather, the June 15th Fun Fly has been rescheduled to the following Saturday, June 22nd.

Fun Fly - May 19th

We had an amazing day at the May fun fly! The weather was perfect with winds at a steady 5-10 mph. Eight of us made it out, and we even managed to add Rob to our group photo thanks to Photoshop.

We were honored to have Commissioner Tom Steiger visit us. He had a great time chatting with several of our members.

We also had a brief visit from Tony from POE security, who checked in to see our permit – all smooth sailing there!
